THE Bellarine Sunset Run will be back this year, with organisers announcing last week that the 2021 edition would go ahead.<\/p>\n

The annual walking and running event will take place on February 13.<\/p>\n

Last year saw many of the region\u2019s major events cancelled, and the organisers of the Sunset Run believe they can play a small part in returning life to some kind of normality.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor many of the state’s enthusiastic runners, the 2020 Sunset Run was their last event before the first COVID-19 outbreak in March,”\u00a0 Dion Milne said.<\/p>\n

“We are hoping the 2021 event will be the first of many for our loyal supporters.”<\/p>\n

The Active Feet half marathon and Port Phillip Ferries 10km events are set to continue as per the previous five years, where runners will again travel past the reopened Bellarine Bayside holiday parks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are expecting the same level of enthusiasm from the holiday-makers – it\u2019s something unique to our event and, along with the community vibe, is a large part of why the runners keep coming back,\u201d Mr Milne said.<\/p>\n

While the family favourite Bully Buster 4km is on hold at the moment, organisers are reluctant to cancel it until the last possible moment.<\/p>\n

The 4km has traditionally been a major fundraiser for Bellarine Community Health’s youth services and has raised more than $25,000 throughout its history, so a final decision will be not be made until absolutely necessary.<\/p>\n
