IT\u2019S beginning to look a lot like Christmas on the Geelong waterfront, with the city\u2019s giant floating tree towed into position on Monday morning.<\/p>\n
The tree is now in its customary position next to the carousel ahead of tomorrow\u2019s (Friday) tree lighting ceremony, which is expected to draw a big crowd to witness a big line-up of entertainment and a fireworks display.<\/p>\n
It all starts at 7pm with the Mik Maks, the Itchy Feet band, the cast of Medimime\u2019s production of The Grinch and the Piano Bar.<\/p>\n
The night will be hosted by Bay FM\u2019s Hayden and Milly with a guest appearance from Santa.<\/p>\n
There will also be face painting, roving baubles and Central Geelong Marketing Christmas elves.<\/p>\n
Then as darkness starts to fall, one lucky local child \u2013 chosen through a colouring competition \u2013 will have the honour of flicking the switch to begin the colourful lighting and fireworks display at 9pm.<\/p>\n
The festive atmosphere will continue as a marching band leads the crowd on a short walk past the glow of the catenary star and lights on the corner of Moorabool and Malop streets, and on to City Hall to see the new light projection show.<\/p>\n
