CONSTRUCTION is set to begin at Queenscliff’s boat ramp following the approval for a $3.4 million redevelopment.<\/p>\n
The Borough of Queenscliffe last week approved plans to upgrade the current facilities after Better Boating Victoria first lodged the application in November.<\/p>\n
Upgrades come as the Victorian Government identified six facilities that required priority upgrades based on the advice of various stakeholders and boating communities, including the Queenscliff boat ramp.<\/p>\n
Late last year, Better Boating Victoria developed and tested two design concepts in collaboration with the Queenscliff community.<\/p>\n
The final design aims to improve the functionality and safety of the boat ramp with the installation of an additional ramp lane, widening pontoons, dedicated rigging lane and a designated area for kayak launching.<\/p>\n
Up to 89 formal spaces will be created for trailer and boat parking under the approved design.<\/p>\n
The application lodged by Better Boating Victoria said, “the design of the facility has accommodated the environmental sensitivity of Swan Bay” and that “no neighbouring marine habitat and environment will be damaged as a part of the works.”<\/p>\n
Under the upgrades a new lookout will be established as well as a boardwalk with panoramic views across the Bay.<\/p>\n
Designed by specialist landscape architecture and engineering firm, Thompson Berril Landscape Design, the project is set to commence mid-year outside of the peak boating season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
