THE Borough of Queenscliffe is set to hold its annual e-waste drop off day on Saturday, May 15.<\/p>\n
Since 2012, council has coordinated an annual e-waste drop-off day as an opportunity for residents to safely dispose of their electronic waste.<\/p>\n
Prior to last year, council had reported more than 61,000 kilograms of e-waste had been diverted from landfill as a result of the annual drop-offs.<\/p>\n
This year the collection point will be open to residents between 9am and 2pm at the Ocean View Carpark located at the Southern end of Hesse Street.<\/p>\n
E-waste may include old, unwanted or broken electronics or electrical equipment including televisions, computer equipment, home office equipment, audio visual electronics, household appliances as well as mobile phones and other telecommunication equipment.<\/p>\n
Council will not be accepting household batteries, light globes, smoke detectors, air conditioners and whitegoods including fridges, freezers, ovens, stoves, dryers and washing machines during the drop-off. All items collected will be dismantled in order to recycle components into new products.<\/p>\n
Residents can also dispose e-waste items year-round by accessing the Drysdale Resource and Recovery Centre.<\/p>\n
