A ST LEONARDS teen will raise money for sick kids next week by doing what she loves to do… dance!<\/p>\n

Mackenzie Sinclair, 16, will “Dance for Sick Kids” during National Families Week, which runs from May 15 to May 21, to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities.<\/p>\n

When the Bellarine Times went to print, Mackenzie, who attends St Ignatius College, had raised her target of $1,000 and was very thankful for all the community support and donations she had received so far.<\/p>\n

Mackenzie said the charity had supported many of her friends she had met through her own hospital stays. “In 2015, I was diagnosed with a brain condition called an arachnoid cyst, which has required multiple brain surgeries, admissions and appointments,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Since then I have made some truly amazing friendships through hospital.”<\/p>\n

“Many of my close friends have been touched by the work of RMHC and I’d love to give back to a place that has supported so many people I know.”<\/p>\n

Mackenzie, a member of the Geelong School of Dance, will dance for a minimum of one hour each day throughout the week.<\/p>\n

All funds raised will help seriously ill or injured children and their families by providing a home-away-from-home at Ronald McDonald House, whilst they receive critical care and treatment.<\/p>\n

On average, it costs Ronald McDonald House Charities $160 to support a family for one night.<\/p>\n

Dance for Sick Kids is a seven-day dance challenge raising much-needed funds to support families with a seriously ill or injured child. It is specially designed to be inclusive and bring together a community of people who want to dance to make a difference.<\/p>\n
