TALENTED local photographers are being encouraged to put forward their favourite images of the region for a chance to be featured in the 2022 City of Greater Geelong calendar.<\/p>\n
Entries are now open for the annual competition which last year attracted more than 1500 entries to fill the 13 spots, which includes the sought-after cover honours.<\/p>\n
The calendar is distributed to more than 100,000 households across the municipality and the winning photographs are selected via an online public voting process.<\/p>\n
Last year\u2019s cover image \u2013 a spectacular aerial of the Carousel and Eastern Beach captured by Clifton Springs photographer David McGuinness \u2013 was the most popular among the 3500 voters.<\/p>\n
Entrants are encouraged to submit a photograph which showcases part of the Greater Geelong region, along with an explanation of what the image means to them.<\/p>\n
Mayor Stephanie Asher said the calendars were a great way to put a spotlight on the beauty of the Greater Geelong region.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re looking for diverse photos that capture our region,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cGreater Geelong is full of beautiful and unique settings \u2013 bushland, coastline, countryside and urban landscape – so there are plenty of opportunities to get that perfect shot.\u201d<\/p>\n
Deputy mayor Trent Sullivan, who is chair of the Creative Communities and Culture portfolio, encouraged community members to get behind the lens and start snapping.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have thousands of talented photographers in our region, and every year we are blown away by the outstanding submissions \u2013 I\u2019m looking forward to seeing the calibre of entries this year,\u201d Cr Sullivan said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur calendars are hugely popular with the community, to have up at home and also to send to friends and relatives outside the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
