LOCAL filmmaker and environmentalist Jarrod Boord has created a short video about the changing ways in which humans interact and create impact on our planet.<\/p>\n
The Impossible Float is told from the perspective of a glass fishing float \u2013 it was written and voiced by Tangaroa Blue crew member Brett Tait.<\/p>\n
Jarrod, from Streamline Media and Communications Group, said he was inspired to create the short film after reading a poem by the same name.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe story aims to get the audience thinking about the old ways of doing things, using resources that return to the earth, break down, with less impact than plastic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jarrod, of Ocean Grove, said he had been working on the three-minute video during the past 12 months, and was offering it free as a\u00a0resource.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been trying to create a different perspective on ocean plastics and another teaching resource,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFilmed in Port Phillip Bay, this is a free resource, anyone is welcome to use it in any presentations or classrooms, ferries or public spaces. I only ask that you let me know where you use it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jarrod said the short film had been well received, with lots of positive feedback.<\/p>\n
\u201cEspecially from teachers who are going to use it in their classes as a talking point in both primary and secondary school classes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEnglish teachers are also going to use it for open discussion and writing pieces.<\/p>\n
\u201cI guess it has a lot of depth and diversity to discuss environmental issues.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jarrod said waste and resource management teams were also sharing it and using it as a teaching resource.<\/p>\n
He said the project received support from many people and that he appreciated every one of them, plus the City of Greater Geelong through its COVID-19 Arts, Culture and Heritage Recovery Grants Program.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m interested to hear what people think of this video and please share it wide and far,\u201d Jarrod said.<\/p>\n
