That is why the new Older Persons Advocacy Network will be of such benefit, by giving them a strong voice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Henderson said the new service is easily accessed, through a website and a freecall number.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLocals are automatically connected with our Victorian advocacy organisation,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrained advocates then assess their needs and can provide a personalised service and meet with them if necessary. The aim is to ensure their rights are respected and that they can make informed decisions about their future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Henderson said OPAN help was available to all Corangamite residents aged 55 and over, including those who may be living with a disability or dementia, or were from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n<p>The Turnbull Government has provided $25.7 million over the next three years for OPAN to deliver the new National Aged Care Advocacy Program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis service is about respect for local seniors\u2019 rights and individual needs and expectations,\u201d Ms Henderson said.<\/p>\n<p>Corangamite residents, their families or carers in need of advocacy should head to opan.com.au or phone 1800 700 600.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new, free support network is now available to stand up for the rights older people in need in Corangamite.
