THE Barwon Heads Bowling Club is among 73 projects across Victoria to score a share in $22 million from the Victorian Government’s 2021 Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.<\/p>\n
With overwhelming demand for shovel-ready community sports infrastructure across Victoria, the fund is supporting projects across five categories: Better Indoor Stadiums, Female-Friendly Facilities, Community Sports Lighting, Facilities for Active Seniors, and Scoreboards and Fixed Equipment.<\/p>\n
Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney, on behalf of Bellarine MP Lisa Neville, announced on Friday last week that Barwon Heads Bowls Club had secured $200,000 towards the construction of a new, accessible and fit-for-purpose pavilion with additional carparking, fencing and landscaping works.<\/p>\n
“Congratulations to the Barwon Heads Bowls Club – their new clubrooms will secure the future of the club and support the growing number of people keen to get involved in lawn bowls,” she said.<\/p>\n
“It’s a great example of how the Victorian Government is making sports and recreation more accessible, welcoming and inclusive for more Victorians.”<\/p>\n
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence also announced that the next round of the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund will open later this year, with up to $27 million available, including $10 million for female-friendly facilities.<\/p>\n
The Victorian Government says it has invested more than $1.1 billion in community sport and recreation infrastructure since 2014.<\/p>\n
The Local Sports Infrastructure Fund is also part of the Victorian Government’s suite of community sport and active recreation infrastructure investment programs including the World Game Facilities Fund, Community Cricket Program, Community Motorsport Program, Community Sports Infrastructure Loans Scheme and the popular Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.<\/p>\n
