REGIONAL leaders will take their annual forum and discussions on sustainable growth online next month, as G21 responds to the evolving COVID situation.<\/p>\n
G21\u2019s annual stakeholder forum will change again this year to a virtual, video-streamed, free event on the same date, Friday August 6, from 9.30am to 12 noon.<\/p>\n
The same stellar line-up of speakers will be taking part in a thought-provoking discussion on how the region can manage its fast-growing population while remaining one of Australia\u2019s most liveable regions.<\/p>\n
G21 chief executive officer Giulia Baggio said while it was disappointing the forum would not go ahead face-to-face as planned, the virtual forum would be just as compelling and entertaining in a shorter format, hosted by former ABC broadcaster Jon Faine.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year\u2019s forum was also virtual due to COVID and proved a great success,\u201d Ms Baggio said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m confident this year\u2019s forum will be just as thought provoking.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of Australia\u2019s most interesting speakers will be sharing their insights on the region\u2019s social and economic future.<\/p>\n
\u201cHighly respected author and journalist George Megalogenis and urban research expert Distinguished Professor Billie Giles-Corti will present their insights on G21\u2019s opportunity to become Australia\u2019s most liveable region.<\/p>\n
She said the panel of experts would include Wadawurrung Traditional Owner Corrina Eccles, sustainable architect Jeremy McLeod, economist Angela Jackson and urban planner Nat Anson.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019ll be discussing the importance of creating connected, equitable, sustainable communities and the need to put people at the centre of our thinking,\u201d Ms Baggio said.<\/p>\n
The forum will also be live on 94.7 The Pulse with broadcast host Mitchell Dye.<\/p>\n
