{"id":43946,"date":"2021-08-22T04:15:21","date_gmt":"2021-08-21T18:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=43946"},"modified":"2021-08-18T15:37:28","modified_gmt":"2021-08-18T05:37:28","slug":"college-presents-addams-family-fun","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/college-presents-addams-family-fun\/","title":{"rendered":"College presents Addams Family fun"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STUDENTS and staff at Bellarine Secondary College went creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky with their production this year.<\/p>\n<p>The school embraced the \u201cshow must go on\u201d ethos last year during the difficulties of the coronavirus pandemic, and was one of the very few in Victoria to stage a full-scale musical.<\/p>\n<p>VCE and Year 9 performing arts teacher Melissa Di Niro said 2020 was a \u201crollercoaster of a year\u201d, with most of it spent rehearsing online with no clear hope in sight of putting on a show, but the college managed to run their production of <em>Grease<\/em> in the final week of the school year.<\/p>\n<p>This year has been similarly tough, with snap lockdowns, a return to rehearsing online and rescheduled dates, but spirits were still high for Bellarine Secondary College students and staff at the weekend as they performed Origin Theatrical&#8217;s <em>The Addams Family School Edition<\/em> at The Potato Shed in Drysdale.<\/p>\n<p>The comical feast encapsulated the wackiness in every family with an original story that is every father\u2019s nightmare.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family \u2013 a man her parents have never met.<\/p>\n<p>And if that wasn\u2019t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents and staff have banded together to pivot and think creatively to overcome obstacles and have a safe and inclusive space for the musical to still go ahead this year,\u201d Ms Di Niro said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe talented students, who have a list of accolades among them, are excited to have the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STUDENTS and staff at Bellarine Secondary College went creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky with their production this year.
