PLAY dough, painted rocks, dinosaur cookies and fruit were among the offerings of a \u201cKindness Table\u201d recently organised by two Ocean Grove kids.<\/p>\n
Bohdi Boswell, 5, and Lulu Winter, 6, set up the table in Kingston Estate last week, to put a little joy in peoples\u2019 lives.<\/p>\n
Bohdi\u2019s mum Samantha said she and the kids drew their inspiration from an Instagram creator who makes beautiful crafts from recycled goods and natural resources.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had been painting rock faces as a part of a home learning activity and I had suggested that it would be nice to give them out to some children \u2013 this sparked a conversation about \u2018what is kindness\u2019?\u201d Samantha said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd what could we give for free to brighten peoples\u2019 days?<\/p>\n
\u201cI sent out a group message to my neighbours who were kind enough to donate empty jars, fresh herbs and some craft supplies for the kids to get creative.\u201d<\/p>\n
Samantha said her son Bohdi, and her friend\u2019s daughter Lulu, then got busy making lavender and dinosaur play dough, zombie and face rocks, dinosaur cookies, tiny bunches of flowers, kindness adds, signs, and there was a mixture of fresh herbs, lemons and oranges from a friend\u2019s tree.<\/p>\n
Bohdi said he enjoyed organising the table because it \u201cbrightened peoples\u2019 day\u201d, while Lulu said, \u201cbeing kind is important so we made a kindness table to make people feel happy and nice\u201d.<\/p>\n
Samantha said it was so lovely to see people\u2019s faces light up and the gesture sparked such lovely conversations.<\/p>\n
\u201cA few were hesitant stating they didn\u2019t have any money, but Bohdi and Lulu assured them it was all for free!\u201d
