A GROUP of local cyclists has pushed through rain, wind and sunshine to raise more than $6800 to help people living with multiple sclerosis.<\/p>\n
Dirt Riders MS, led by The Pedal Shed\u2019s Erik Vosloo, rode between 36km and 41km in their 5km radius and in two hours, keeping the MS ride alive.<\/p>\n
The Dirt Riders MS were looking forward to taking part in the MS Melbourne Run + Ride Festival to challenge themselves and fundraise for MS.<\/p>\n
But as this event was postponed to 2022 due to COVID, the 10 riders decided to take this bike ride virtual on the weekend of September 4 and 5.<\/p>\n
Mr Vosloo said fellow rider Ian Mclaughlin was the reason he was so motivated to do the MS event.<\/p>\n
\u201cIan has MS and we experienced his second relapse a year ago where he went from being super fit to loosing 95 per cent of all that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe could barely walk \u2026 it took him 12 months of grind to get back and back he is.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is why a bit of rain will not put us off.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Vosloo said the fundraising ride was a great experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cThanks to the 100-plus people who believed in our cause, donating to date $6805 \u2013 a huge thanks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
