THE Borough of Queenscliff has written to the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning advising that there is “an immediate public safety risk” at dog beach.<\/p>\n
In a recent report, chief executive officer Martin Gill said the council had received a Point Lonsdale Front Beach project update from DELWP which included information about additional data collection, a new study and included a reference to the beach.<\/p>\n
Mr Gill said DELWP advised that wave data would help inform a separate study of the Point Lonsdale coastline, including dog beach.<\/p>\n
The report said authorities would consider further action “if public safety or assets were at risk in the future”.<\/p>\n
“Where possible, natural remediation options will be considered first, such as sand renourishment, the process of physically carting sand from one location to another,” DELWP advised.<\/p>\n
Mr Gill said the council had responded to the report by writing to the department and Minister Lisa Neville.<\/p>\n
“Council is seeking to work in partnership with DELWP to address the immediate risk by limiting access to the dune face,” Mr Gill said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
