SMALL businesses across the Geelong region could benefit from major energy cost savings with a new state government program unveiled today.<\/p>\n
The Small Business Energy Saver Program, an initiative of Sustainability Victoria, offers an average savings of $1000 with the purchase price and installation costs of items such as heat pumps, air conditioners, and refrigerated display cabinets.<\/p>\n
The program aims to get small businesses in retail, hospitality, accommodation, healthcare, professional services, and small-scale manufacturing to upgrade to more energy efficient equipment that’s cheaper to use.<\/p>\n
Today’s webinar, hosted by social enterprise group Greenlight in conjunction with Geelong Sustainability, will brief business owners on the program.<\/p>\n
Greenlight program manager Steve Turnock said the program offered important financial benefits for small businesses with less than 19 full-time equivalent employees, as they recover from the impact of the pandemic.<\/p>\n
“We recognise that time is precious for small business owners so the scope of the program will be outlined in a half-hour webinar that they can watch from the convenience of their office or workplace,” Mr Turnock said.<\/p>\n
