BOOKINGS have opened for Summer by the Sea 2018, which will deliver more than 300 free activities along Victoria\u2019s coastline.<\/p>\n
Running from January 2-28, the annual program encourages Victorians to learn more about our remarkable coastline through a diverse range of events and experiences.<\/p>\n
Program highlights on the Surf Coast and Bellarine include canoeing at Anglesea, beachcombing at Indented Head and Clifton Springs, and rockpool rambles at various local beaches.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery year, Summer by the Sea attracts thousands of Victorians who visit or live on our coastline, and 2018 will be no different,\u201d Coastcare Victoria co-ordinator Evelyn Nicholson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocal activities offer a range of experiences for all ages, from taking the plunge and snorkelling through seagrass meadows at St Leonards, to catching and releasing baby fish in the \u2018Estuary Discovery\u2019 at Aireys Inlet.<\/p>\n
\u201cSummer by the Sea is a fantastic opportunity for all Victorians to explore the coastal areas on their doorstep, and to learn about some of the challenges facing our fragile coastal environments.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe program, now in its 22nd year, plays an important role in developing Victorians\u2019 understanding and appreciation for the state\u2019s 2,000 kilometres of coastline.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose interested in registering for an activity can book online through the Summer by the Sea website.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlaces are limited, so if you do miss out on an activity, keep an eye on the booking website.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the coming weeks, the Coastcare team will continue to update it with new events and experiences.<\/p>\n

Summer by the Sea is supported by land managers, community groups and conservation agencies across Victoria.<\/p>\n
