When was the last time you shared your thoughts on a council project? You can really make a difference.<\/p>\n
As a councillor, I am guided by community feedback. It’s at the core of what we do. I listen to ideas at information sessions, analyse survey data and read through submissions.<\/p>\n
I’m always grateful to everyone who takes the time to provide their opinion on something that matters to them. This ensures I make informed decisions with the community front of mind.<\/p>\n
At the heart of this process is your voice.<\/p>\n
There are a number of projects currently open for consultation that impact Bellarine Peninsula residents. I’d really like to hear from you!<\/p>\n
Let’s start with the Indented Head Woodland Nature Reserve Master Plan.<\/p>\n
As part of our commitment to protect, enhance and restore our region’s biodiversity, we want to guide long-term planning for this 13.6 hectare reserve on the western boundary of the township.<\/p>\n
The plan includes an overarching vision, desired outcomes, recommendations and priority actions.<\/p>\n
Right now we’re asking for input into the concept plan, via a survey, that will feed into the master plan. This round of feedback closes 21 January 2022.<\/p>\n
Keep an eye out for further engagement opportunities including information sessions and site tours.<\/p>\n
Next, let’s look at the North Bellarine Aquatic and Leisure Centre.<\/p>\n
I’m sure you’ve already heard a lot about this project.<\/p>\n
In partnership with the Australian Government, we’re delivering a new 50-metre outdoor heated pool at the Drysdale Sporting Precinct. That’s stage 1.<\/p>\n
We’re now seeking community feedback on the indicative plan for the proposed stage 2 indoor aquatic and leisure centre.<\/p>\n
The plans are based on community submissions from April and consultation with the North Bellarine Aquatic Centre Advocacy Group.<\/p>\n
The proposed indoor facilities feature a spa, sauna and steam room, gymnasium and group fitness area, water play facilities, warm water exercise pool and cafe.<\/p>\n
This development will service Drysdale, Curlewis, Portarlington, St Leonards and Indented Head communities.<\/p>\n
You can share your feedback via a survey before December 12, 2021.<\/p>\n
Finally, I’d like to draw your attention to the Clifton Springs and Drysdale Flood Study.<\/p>\n
In partnership with Corangamite CMA, we’re focusing on the Clifton Springs and Drysdale catchment areas.<\/p>\n
Significant urban development in the Bellarine Peninsula’s north has led to this project.<\/p>\n
It will help the city and relevant authorities to better understand the flood risks and stormwater management opportunities in this growth area.<\/p>\n
The study zone includes Clifton Springs, Drysdale, Curlewis and Bellarine.<\/p>\n
At the moment, we’re asking for your thoughts on our goals and proposed options.<\/p>\n
