{"id":48131,"date":"2022-01-13T04:15:55","date_gmt":"2022-01-12T17:15:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=48131"},"modified":"2022-01-12T21:36:32","modified_gmt":"2022-01-12T10:36:32","slug":"port-health-centre-builder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/port-health-centre-builder\/","title":{"rendered":"Builder appointed for Port health centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BELLARINE Community Health (BCH) has welcomed the new year with the signing of a building contract for the redevelopment of the Portarlington Community Health Centre.<\/p>\n<p>After a competitive tender process, Loaram Constructions has been appointed to undertake the redevelopment works at the Portarlington site.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s pleasing to see this project finally get under way,\u201d BCH chief executive officer Garry Ellis said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCOVID and the ongoing impact on construction costs for the building industry have created delays and budget issues, but we are delighted to now have Loaram Constructions on board and keen to see the redevelopment works begin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Loaram Constructions, which has offices in both Geelong and Melbourne, will take possession of the site soon and it is anticipated demolition works will begin not long afterwards.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_48148\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-48148\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-48148\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/01\/Untitled-design-3-1-1024x538.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/01\/Untitled-design-3-1-1024x538.png 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/01\/Untitled-design-3-1-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/01\/Untitled-design-3-1-768x403.png 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/01\/Untitled-design-3-1.png 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-48148\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">An artist\u2019s impression of the exterior of the redevelopment.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis redevelopment, funded through the Department of Health\u2019s Community Health and Hospitals Program, is an opportunity for BCH to invest in the Portarlington community,\u201d Mr Ellis said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the beginning of this project we have engaged with and listened to our community partners such as the Portarlington Ladies Auxiliary and the Portarlington Food Assistance Program about their requirements, along with other community members about what makes a modern Community Health service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A significant increase in building costs has resulted in some changes to the scale of the redevelopment, including a reduction in floor area and certain building materials.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, there has been some alterations to the facade of the building to keep costs within the available budget.<\/p>\n<p>BCH services and the Portarlington GP Clinic will continue to operate during the redevelopment, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BELLARINE Community Health (BCH) has welcomed the new year with the signing of a building contract for the redevelopment of the Portarlington Community Health Centre.
