{"id":48703,"date":"2022-02-05T04:00:58","date_gmt":"2022-02-04T17:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=48703"},"modified":"2022-02-03T13:08:38","modified_gmt":"2022-02-03T02:08:38","slug":"young-filmmakers-find-the-spotlight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/young-filmmakers-find-the-spotlight\/","title":{"rendered":"Young filmmakers find the spotlight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THIS February young Victorian filmmakers will be given a space to share their talent at the North Bellarine Film Festival (NBFF).<br \/>\nThe annual film festival will be held Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26 at the Potato Shed Theatre in Drysdale, after being postponed twice due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>This year the festival\u2019s focus will be an award ceremony on the Saturday evening where the festival will present a jury-selected award to recognise Victorian filmmakers under the age of 25.<\/p>\n<p>The Emerging Filmmaker Award seeks to reward young Victorian filmmakers who demonstrate excellence, talent and commitment to their craft, with the wining film and runner-up films to be screened from 7.30pm, doors opening at 6.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>Festival chair Bill Lussier said the decision to this year screen runner-up films as well as the winning film reflects the strong focus of the festival on celebrating young Victorian filmmakers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe award ceremony on the Saturday evening of the festival will be a celebration of some of Victoria\u2019s best young filmmakers,\u201d Mr Lussier said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe award was established in 2019 to recognise Victorian filmmaker 25 years of age or younger and has identified some terrific filmmaking talent since its inception.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_48722\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-48722\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-48722 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/02\/Feature-image-1-640x320.png?_t=1643848649\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-48722\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Director Tadji Ulrich and lead actress Ana Swadling of the 2019 Emerging Film Maker Award winning film When We Were One. Photo: IVAN KEMP<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Lussier said the decision was made this year to screen runner-up films as well as the winning film.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we\u2019re trying to do is recognise these young people and put their work out there in the public arena,\u201d Mr Lussier said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt recognises these young film makers, even if they don\u2019t win the award, and it recognises their work. It puts it our there as a really good piece of work by a really good quality filmmaker.
