SUMMER CLUB<\/strong><\/p>\n

With summer pushing the mercury upwards, there\u2019s no better place to keep cool than the Club Armstrong pool. Sorry, make that pools.<\/p>\n

The club\u2019s two pools \u2013 a resort-style pool and an under-cover lap pool \u2013 offer the perfect option for keeping the kids busy and your temperature down, as well as meeting up with friends and relaxing.<\/p>\n

Feeling a bit more energetic? Try the club\u2019s fully-equipped gym or maybe get the racquets out for a hit of tennis.<\/p>\n

And don\u2019t forget the terrific adventure park playground, where children can burn off their excess energy while parents relax in the cool of a shady sprawling redgum.<\/p>\n

MR CLAUS CALLS BY<\/strong><\/p>\n

Santa Claus proved king of the kids when he arrived at the Club Armstrong adventure park with the Grovedale Fire Brigade just before Christmas.<\/p>\n

What was a hot mid-30s day cooled beautifully as spray from the firefighters\u2019 powerful hoses brought the temperature down.<\/p>\n

Showering the kids also with lollies and lots of cuddles, Santa and the fire brigade were an absolute hit. Children rode in a fire truck, sounded the siren and tested the fire hose.<\/p>\n

It was the perfect recipe for some 80 kids and parents to swing into the Yuletide spirit.<\/p>\n

Little tacker Ava Cameron, 3, even took on the task of helping Santa negotiate the adventure park\u2019s flying fox.<\/p>\n

And Santa\u2019s lollybags brought smiles all round \u2013 as did his last-minute queries on Christmas present orders and one or two checks on just who\u2019s been naughty and nice.<\/p>\n

A big thank-you to everyone who attended. As our community grows even more next year, we hope to also grow this yearly event and make it an annual tradition<\/p>\n

DISABILITY BENCHMARK<\/strong><\/p>\n

An Aussie first is under way at Armstrong Mount Duneed where St Laurence Housing, together with Burbank Homes and Villawood Properties, is building an important display home.<\/p>\n

A fully accessible three-bedroom display home, it will showcase numerous technologies designed to help people with disabilities live as independently as possible.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s nothing quite like it in the country.<\/p>\n

The house will feature an electronically adjustable kitchen, electrically-operated blinds and windows, a high physical support bedroom with state-of-the-art hoist and many other design elements and inclusions.<\/p>\n

The project is driven by ambitions to normalise disability housing in mainstream residential areas and to give people with disability the chance to see the kind of housing and facilities available in a display home environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
