A NEW and improved Point Lonsdale playground will be ready for play before the end of this winter.<\/p>\n
The Borough of Queenscliffe (BOQ) will begin construction in June for new play equipment at Ganes Reserve, behind the Surf Lifesaving Club.<\/p>\n
The existing playground has deteriorated due to corrosion and age, leading BOQ to fund a replacement and add new elements including a nest swing and climbing nets.<\/p>\n
Playground staples including swings, slides, a bridge and track rider will also be part of the new space, while the project will retain surrounding seats and trees.<\/p>\n
The renewal will cost $55,000 and is on track to finish in July. BOQ will donate old equipment to Rotary Australia, who will restore salvageable components to send to disadvantaged international communities.<\/p>\n
Borough mayor Ross Ebbels said he was looking forward to the colourful and exciting renewal.<\/p>\n
“With some new features and colourful equipment, the renewed Ganes Reserve playground will be an even better place to play,” Cr Ebbels said.<\/p>\n
“I’m looking forward to inviting some of our youngest residents to test-drive the swings, climbing nets and track rider when the playground reopens in July.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
