{"id":51392,"date":"2022-05-02T04:15:05","date_gmt":"2022-05-01T18:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=51392"},"modified":"2022-05-02T10:11:22","modified_gmt":"2022-05-02T00:11:22","slug":"port-scoreboard-bipartisan-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/port-scoreboard-bipartisan-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Port scoreboard gets bipartisan support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEW and improved scoreboard at the Portarlington Recreation Reserve has bipartisan support, with the two major parties each pledging $60,000 towards the project.<\/p>\n<p>Both commitments towards the electronic scoreboard were made last week.<\/p>\n<p>Corangamite Labor federal member Libby Coker said Labor\u2019s $60,000 pledge was part of an overall $600,000 commitment for the reserve that would also support new sports lights and upgraded facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI recognise there is a lot to do to implement the Portarlington Recreation Reserve Masterplan, and hopefully this funding will kickstart contributions from all levels of government,\u201d Ms Coker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncreased participation in all areas of the Portarlington club means we have to invest in modernised facilities generally, to meet community and player expectations and needs.<br \/>\n\u201cThe funding contribution towards sports lighting will open up more space and times for training and night matches. This is especially so for winter sports, where you have very limited use of grounds for training if you don\u2019t have lights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Portarlington Recreation Reserve has long needed a state-of-the art scoreboard for its main oval.
