THE fifth Herbalife Family Foundation Bike Ride will again roll out of Torquay next month, and local surfers have been encouraged to get involved.<\/p>\n
Started by Torquay\u2019s Kevin Beale and Gail Bernard in 2014, the annual 850-kilometre ride from Torquay to Victoria has raised more than $250,000 for the foundation.<\/p>\n
This time, local surfers are wanted to help celebrate the five-year milestone by sending riders off on February 3 with a surfboard guard of honour.<\/p>\n
The Herbalife Family Foundation is a global, non-profit organisation that provides grants to existing charitable organisations to ensure children receive better nutrition, nutrition education and the support of community volunteers.<\/p>\n
In Australia, the foundation supports The Infants\u2019 Home in Sydney, Melbourne\u2019s Lighthouse Foundation, The Perth Children\u2019s Hospital Foundation and Sunshine Butterflies near Tewantin\/Noosa in Queensland.<\/p>\n
Herbalife Nutrition\u2019s general manager for Australia and New Zealand Rod Taylor said the fifth year of the ride was set to be the best yet.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom just five riders and three crew members on the first ride in 2014, the Herbalife Family Foundation Bike Ride in 2018 will see 33 riders and 19 crew participate.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re very excited about the growth of the ride over such a short time, with the ride becoming an annual fixture on our event calendar.\u201d<\/p>\n
