{"id":52787,"date":"2022-05-27T04:15:14","date_gmt":"2022-05-26T18:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=52787"},"modified":"2022-05-25T11:34:04","modified_gmt":"2022-05-25T01:34:04","slug":"borough-to-applaud-local-legends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/borough-to-applaud-local-legends\/","title":{"rendered":"Borough to applaud local legends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Borough of Queenscliffe will toast its top community achievers at an awards ceremony on the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>BOQ will present its community service awards on Saturday, which the borough said is one of its most popular annual events as it celebrates the dedication of individuals and community groups.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s awards will happen as part of the council&#8217;s National Volunteer Week celebrations, after moving from their usual slot on January 26 this year.<\/p>\n<p>Awards presented on the day are citizen of the year, young citizen of the year, community event of the year, community group of the year and community environment project.<\/p>\n<p>The borough said it had received 17 nominations across all its categories, all of which would receive acknowledgement on the day before declaring winners.<\/p>\n<p>Borough mayor Ross Ebbels said he was looking forward to celebrating the borough&#8217;s finest volunteers and community servants.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re fortunate in the borough to have so many residents who volunteer their time and expertise to make our community an even better place to live,&#8221; Cr Ebbels said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m excited to recognise some of our most outstanding residents at Saturday&#8217;s presentation event.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The ceremonies will take place at Point Lonsdale Primary School&#8217;s hall from 10am on Saturday, May 28.<\/p>\n<p>Entry is free but requires registration online at the borough&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/queenscliffe.vic.gov.au\/events\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Borough of Queenscliffe will toast its top community achievers at an awards ceremony on the weekend.
