RACING cars, hippopotamuses, a huge dragon and travel-inspired sand sculptures were among the mix at Queenscliff Neighbourhood House\u2019s annual contest at the weekend.<\/p>\n

About 300 people came down to check out the 20th Sand Sculpture Contest on Sunday, with almost 40 groups taking part.<\/p>\n

Painter Mark Eadie created the most popular sand sculpture of the day with his dragon Draco, which also earnt him first prize in the single adults category.<\/p>\n

Mr Eadie said he was inspired to create a dragon because he regularly sketched and painted them.<\/p>\n

Prizes were awarded to first, second and third place getters in age categories for singles and groups, adults and children.<\/p>\n

Back at the Neighbourhood House, a second hand book sale of great holiday reads was on offer throughout the morning.<\/p>\n

A barbecue run by the town\u2019s Men\u2019s Shed also offered a sausage sizzle, and many stayed to enjoy the Sea of Ukes.<\/p>\n
