The south coast is the subject of a new exhibition in Torquay.<\/p>\n
The exhibition, South Coast Summer, is a collection of work from Judy Antill, a recognised and established Australian artist.<\/p>\n
Judy\u2019s work is included in many private and corporate collections throughout Australia, overseas and in public collections including Parliament House, Brisbane Alcoa and the City of Hamilton Regional Gallery. Her work has also been shown at the National Gallery of Victoria. <\/p>\n
\u201cArt is my life. It\u2019s the reason I get up in the morning, the driving force behind all my adventures and travels, and the therapy that keeps me grounded enough to make a contribution that matters,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Judy hoped people who attended the exhibition took away an appreciation of the diversity of scenery along Victoria\u2019s coast; from the softer colours around Torquay to the dramatic shapes of Port Campbell, and then on to the wild dark basalt coastline around Portland.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been painting the sea for 35 years now and in the late 90s I noticed metamorphosis appearing in my work \u2013 abstract human shapes evolving from the natural mark making \u2013 so began my association with Human Rights issues which led to exhibitions in London, New York and the Florence Biennale.\u201d<\/p>\n
South Coast Summer is at Torquay Orange until January 31.<\/p>\n
\u201cTorquay Orange is the perfect venue for South Coast Summer, I believe. Torquay is the starting point for the magnificent tourist route all the way to Cape Bridgewater near the South Australian border.\u201d<\/p>\n
Torquay Orange is located at 1\/15 Bristol Road, open from 7am-4pm.<\/p>\n
