{"id":54204,"date":"2022-06-17T04:00:30","date_gmt":"2022-06-16T18:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=54204"},"modified":"2022-06-15T11:06:18","modified_gmt":"2022-06-15T01:06:18","slug":"celtic-festival-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/celtic-festival-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Celtic Festival success"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE National Celtic Festival finally got to celebrate its 18th birthday over the long weekend in Portarlington after two years of last-minute cancellations.<\/p>\n<p>Unperturbed by the weather, thousands turned out for the four-day winter event along the foreshore and throughout the town\u2019s venues to watch Celtic martial arts, see dozens of musical acts from across the country and overseas, take part in workshops and navigate the labyrinth.<\/p>\n<p>Male and female heavy games champions from Australia and New Zealand also competed for supremacy in caber (tree trunk) tossing, stone rolling and carrying events.<\/p>\n<p>Festival director Una McAlinden said \u201clet\u2019s get the party started is our catchphrase \u2026 two years later and we were still using it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs soon as the doors opened, the party well and truly started,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_54271\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54271\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-54271\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/06\/Pool-in-article-2022-06-15T110256.035.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/06\/Pool-in-article-2022-06-15T110256.035.png 600w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/06\/Pool-in-article-2022-06-15T110256.035-300x190.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54271\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bush Gothic in full flight.
