MEMBERS of the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club (PLSLSC) raised more than $19,200 during their doorknock appeal last month.<\/p>\n
The donations came from residents, holidaymakers and visitors of Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff, which were collected by a team of Nippers, parents, counter tins and ferry terminal collectors.<\/p>\n
The annual doorknock comes after PLSLSC launched its public campaign in November to raise $2 million to fund a new clubhouse.<\/p>\n
PLSLSC president Matthew Ponsford said following years of preparatory work the club was now in a position to start fundraising for much-needed new club facilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe launch the public campaign with the aim to raise $2 million in addition to the $1.5 million grant from the Victorian government,\u201d Mr Ponsford said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are seeking major gift pledges from individuals, families and businesses who care about the Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff community and value the essential surf lifesaving services we provide.\u201d<\/p>\n
