These school holidays, the National Wool Museum is hosting an interactive exhibition that will take you and your children to another realm, with magical projections, light play, soundscapes and illustrations, all designed to create an imaginative world of play and mystery.<\/b><\/p>\n

Realm<\/i>, an exhibition by award-winning Geelong artist Laura Alice is designed to encourage imaginative and creative play for all young visitors, with a giant colouring-in wall, shadows made with recycled materials, mystical animations, and Laura\u2019s award-winning illustrations.<\/p>\n

Alice said the exhibition blended her background in street art, community art, painting and illustration and her interest in augmenting reality and sensory interaction and has something to intrigue all ages.\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to experiencing the playful mysterious atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are series of ways people can interact with the exhibition, its giant glow colouring in wall, a lot of sensory elements, it was designed with kids in mind, but everyone will get something out of it. It is gentle and a calming experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was designed with families particularly in mind, because during the winter holidays families are sometimes at a loose end and looking for something to do that\u2019s not overstimulating but it still fun and interesting so the wool museum was kind enough to commission me to make a space that was designed for that. It\u2019s creative and interactive and artistic and immersive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laura said she was delighted to work on this exhibition particularly as she has more recently come to enjoy working on interactive, empowering and inclusive community art that is accessible to everyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt blends street art, augmented reality and sensory interactive space, and how they can overlap.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exhibition will be held at the National Wool Museum daily between 10am-3pm until July 10.<\/p>\n

Sunday sessions at Beav’s Bar<\/b><\/p>\n

<\/b>Geelong Beav’s Bar & booking agency Amber Mic have announced a series of original live music Sunday sessions events funded by Creative Victoria every Sunday from July until January 2023.<\/p>\n

Original Sundays will be hosted at Beav\u2019s Bar (77-79 Little Malop Street, Geelong), with free entry for all. Each Original Sunday will boast a line-up of Geelong\/Surf Coast local musicians of all genres, kicking off on Sunday, July 3 with Xyla Haigh, Bec Goring & Lash78.<\/p>\n

Sleeping Beauty returns to the stage<\/b><\/p>\n

An evergreen pantomime classic is returning to the stage as Theatre 3triple2 for Kids performs a school holiday show Sleeping Beauty at the Potato Shed at 10.30am and 1pm daily from July 5-8.<\/p>\n

In the age-old tradition of pantomimes, you are encouraged to boo and hiss the baddies, and cheer for the noble of character and heart.<\/p>\n

Colours of Country<\/b><\/p>\n

The\u00a0Wadawurrung Dja: Awakening Country<\/i> exhibition is on display at the National Wool Museum until November 13.<\/p>\n

Award-winning visual artist and proud Wadawurrung woman, emerging elder and cultural educator Dr Deanne Gilson has carefully crafted the exhibition featuring 20 original paintings and textile works, six commissioned by the museum.<\/p>\n

Dr Gilson said each work reflects her love for Dja (Country), celebrate new life, her connection to place, as well as her family\u2019s knowledge and connection to cultural heritage, and her works are coloured with colours of Wadawurrung country collected while she has been walking on country.
