{"id":55065,"date":"2022-07-10T04:15:23","date_gmt":"2022-07-09T18:15:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=55065"},"modified":"2022-07-05T15:23:05","modified_gmt":"2022-07-05T05:23:05","slug":"covideo-twenty-21-showcases-best-films-from-across-the-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/covideo-twenty-21-showcases-best-films-from-across-the-region\/","title":{"rendered":"Covideo Twenty 21 showcases best films from across the region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE inaugural Covideo Twenty 21 Film Festival in Geelong has given Australia\u2019s best up and coming filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their artistic prowess, documenting aspects of their lives during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday night, the Forum on Australia\u2019s Islamic Relations (FAIR) group ran the film festival in conjunction with Geelong Regional Libraries and the City of Greater Geelong, awarding the winning film with $500 to go towards their future film aspirations.<\/p>\n<p>Cr Jim Mason opened proceedings for the event, which included entertainment from live comedians Fat and Ginger as well as spoken word artists Tim Evans and Rania Ahmed.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 625px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/07\/IMG-20220703-WA0047_99496.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"469\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Comedians Fat and Ginger generated plenty of laughs on the night. Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The 10 films exhibited many differing perspectives of the pandemic and explored topics including lockdown blues and being stuck indoors to getting out and surfing to escape the household.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe event was a great success with a diverse and balanced selection of ten films being broadcast to about 100 people who were in attendance,\u201d festival director Kuranda Seyit said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFilm and video are such powerful mediums and the event really put the call out to the community to showcase and tell their stories.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were thrilled by how well received the event was by our audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Filmmaker Kauthar Abdulalim, festival director Ayesha Bux, and comedians Tim Young and Luke Massey (Fat and Ginger) judged the films, crowning Numan Seyit the winner for his film \u2018Double Check Mate\u2019 winning the $500 prize.<\/p>\n<p>The People\u2019s Choice $300 audience award went to Charlie McGowan for \u2018A Room For One\u2019.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_55070\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-55070\" style=\"width: 645px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-55070\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/07\/IMG-20220703-WA0020_89205.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"645\" height=\"484\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-55070\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kuranda Seyit announces the winner.
