THE weather was perfect for the third race of the Fishos Paddle Series earlier this month, with a packed beach of spectators and keen competitors.<\/p>\n
The course was set to reflect the surf and wind conditions, with a big triangle loop course.<\/p>\n
Communication manager Emma Webb said there was interesting racing across all the divisions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Fishos Paddle Series had its first ever competitor on an ocean racing skull take to the water,\u201d Emma said.<\/p>\n
\u201cGuy Wight showed great skill in paddling his scull around the course. Paddling backwards on a crowded course is a challenge!<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Torquay surf lifesaving boys jumped on a double ski for the race but ending up sinking due to a large hole in the boat, luckily the IRB (inflatable rescue boat) was there to assist them back to shore.\u201d<\/p>\n
The open SUP (stand-up paddle board) was taken out by Glenn Morgan, while the over 40s SUP was won by Ian Denness.<\/p>\n
The female under-18 ski was won by Ashlee Bohan and the open women\u2019s saw Break Roadley take her first win.<\/p>\n
Ivor Morgan continued his good form taking out the open men\u2019s ski, with Ollie Watson still undefeated in the open prone division.<\/p>\n
Jolyon Simpson won the under-18 prone and Bill Strachan won the over 50s ski.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are still hoping to encourage some more females and doubles to participate,\u201d Emma said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a super friendly environment to meet other people who enjoy paddling too.\u201d<\/p>\n
