A REFURBISHED Point Lonsdale playground that features new slides and a nest swing will be “twice as much fun” according to mayor.<\/p>\n

The playground, at Ganes Reserve on Ocean Road, underwent a $55,000 renewal project with Borough of Queenscliffe mayor Ross Ebbels officially opening the site on Thursday.<\/p>\n

“Just like roads and footpaths, the Borough’s playgrounds are part of the essential infrastructure that makes our community such a special place to live,” Cr Ebbels said.<\/p>\n

“Renewing playgrounds like this one at Ganes Reserve keeps them attractive, entertaining, and great places to play.”<\/p>\n

Replacement towers, slides, a nest swing, track rider, climbing nets and other exciting features will now feature on the new playground.<\/p>\n

Cr Ebbels said the diversity of play equipment included in the playground’s new design is designed to ensure children can play safely, build essential motor skills, and have plenty of fun.<\/p>\n

The equipment on the old playground will be renewed and sent to disadvantaged overseas communities to prevent it from going to landfill.<\/p>\n

The Borough has already donated components of the old playground to Rotary Australia, who will restore the equipment to serviceable condition.<\/p>\n

“The next time you visit the brand new Ganes Reserve playground, you can have twice as much fun knowing that old equipment is giving children elsewhere in the world something great to play on too,” Cr Ebbels said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
