SURFING BOARDRIDERS CLUBS in Victoria will have the opportunity to win a share of cash to help them fund and support their members thanks to a new initiative created by Surfing Australia and Surfline Australia.<\/p>\n

The Surfline Next Wave Grant will call on clubs in our region to submit a video entry explaining why their club is the most deserving of a share in $10,000.<\/p>\n

The campaign, which launched in late July, will assist boardriders clubs in setting themselves up for summer, while helping them support their various grassroots programs and fundraisers.<\/p>\n

Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson said the partnership between Surfing Australia and Surfline presented a great opportunity for Victorian boardriders clubs to get a financial leg up before their busy summer season.<\/p>\n

“Boardriders clubs are integral to our community down here in Victoria, with all offering grassroots and developmental programs for all surfers,” Robertson said.<\/p>\n

“These clubs are apart of the framework of our surfing culture and are integral for the development of our surfing stars in and out of the water.<\/p>\n

“The grant provides a great opportunity for our local clubs and I am sure whoever wins the grant Australia-wide will no doubt use the funds to continue supporting their athletes and their pathways going forward.”<\/p>\n

With over 200 boardriders clubs in Australia and over 20,000 members, Surfing Australia Head of Partnerships, Clarissa Pike said the competition is set to be fierce for the grant funds.<\/p>\n

“Clubs are not only the breeding ground for tomorrow’s surfing superstars, but they also create an important community of like-minded people,” Pike said.<\/p>\n

“Australia’s grassroots boardriders culture is a major factor in our historical dominance of professional surfing, yet BRCs tend to be under-resourced and mainly run by volunteers.<\/p>\n

“The Surfline Next Wave Grant is designed to recognise the importance of our BRCs and to help improve their resourcing so they can continue their vital work.”<\/p>\n

Surfline Director of Marketing, Oceania, Ella Risby noted that Surfline was thrilled to give back towards the surfing communities and that the company looked forward to seeing how the winning clubs used their prize money.<\/p>\n
