HEADSPACE Ocean Grove is inviting the public to celebrate its one-year anniversary of supporting youth mental health on the Bellarine.<\/p>\n
Bellarine Community Health (BCH) is hosting a first birthday celebration of the new mental health support service on Thursday, August 25, following a successful first year.<\/p>\n
“We’re really proud to have been able to support young people for the past year in a safe and accessible environment,” BCH Mental Health and Youth Health & Wellbeing Manager, Tanya Fitzpatrick said.<\/p>\n
The headspace will conduct an open house in addition to the “birthday party” style event, scheduled to kick off at 2pm.<\/p>\n
Proceedings will commence with a traditional welcome to country and smoking ceremony.<\/p>\n
Those who attend the event will receive a tour of the facility along with lots of fun interactive games with the headspace Youth Futures Crew.<\/p>\n
Guests can also check out the amazing BCH Youth Guerrilla Garden at the rear of the headspace building.<\/p>\n
The headspace Ocean Grove satellite has given greater access to services for young people across the Bellarine, evidenced by its high volume of call-ins in the last 12 months alone.<\/p>\n
“Since opening the doors in August last year we have had a steady stream of referrals with 2800 appointments already made for young people, their families and their friends,” Ms Fitzpatrick added.<\/p>\n
The branch continues to cater to young people aged between 12 to 25 years along with their family and friends to provide free or low-cost face-to-face information, support, and services.<\/p>\n
Headspace Ocean Grove was established last year as a collaboration between its parent centre headspace Geelong, operated by Stride Mental Health Limited and commissioning body, Western Victoria Primary Health Network.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
