Direct from Spain, vocalist and composer Nancy Ruth will be performing at the Potato Shed in Drysdale as part of her 2018 Sangria Jam Australian Tour.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nancy Ruth\u2019s latest release, Sangria Jam, is a musical journey recounting her travels and life in Spain.<\/p>\n

Combining her influences of jazz, Latin and flamenco, Nancy said she writes and composes with what comes freely to her.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not trying to create a fusion; I just play what I feel. I\u2019m a product of my experience and surroundings,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Having toured Spain and Latin America in 2017, Nancy is looking forward to returning to Australia with shows in Adelaide, Drysdale, Ballarat, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.<\/p>\n

Nancy Ruth has an incredible story, including how she moved to Spain from Canada on her own with hardly any resources \u2013 not even a mobile phone and with limited Spanish.<\/p>\n

Despite starting with nothing and knowing no one, she persisted and fully integrated into living as a Spaniard, learning the culture, and becoming completely fluent in Spanish.<\/p>\n

Her album Sangria Jam is combination of those experiences while she travelled.<\/p>\n

\u201cSangria Jam refers to the way my loves of jazz, flamenco, and Latin rhythms come together, as well as my mixed European bloodline, which in part traces back here to Spain,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cSin prisas, pero sin pausas (slowly but surely), this recording has taken its own time and course, just like a typical day here in Spain, where for all the plans you may make, life leads you around unexpected corners.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea is to ride the wave, enjoy the phrase, devour the moments and notice the magic that catches you off guard.\u201d<\/p>\n

She will be joined by Alain Valodze on guitar, Enrico Mick Morena on drums\/percussion, Herbert Jim\u00e9nez on electric bass and Tony Hicks on flute\/saxophones.<\/p>\n
