The Hyundai Kona Electric, which is one of 400 electric vehicles purchased by the state government, has a 480-kilometre range and is clearly branded to raise community interest about the government’s 2050 net-zero emission target.<\/p>\n
The Andrews government is spending $15 million on 400 ZEV’s and associated charging station infrastructure where the cars are garaged, including at the CCMA’s Murray Street headquarters in Colac.<\/p>\n
CEO John Riddiford said the authority opted to have the car branded as it aligns with the organisations leadership role in promoting good climate policy.

A further $19 million in government grants are being used to expand the publicly accessible fast-charging network throughout Victoria, including stations at Camperdown, Port Fairy and Portland.<\/p>\n
“This is an important step towards ZEVs making up half of all light vehicle sales by 2030, part of our nation-leading climate action, which will see us slash emissions by 50 per cent by the same year,” Minister for Energy Lily D’Ambrosio said.<\/p>\n
