{"id":60518,"date":"2022-10-15T04:00:57","date_gmt":"2022-10-14T17:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=60518"},"modified":"2022-10-13T09:54:19","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T22:54:19","slug":"victorian-longboard-titles-announced-as-pathway-to-wsl-event","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/sport\/victorian-longboard-titles-announced-as-pathway-to-wsl-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Victorian Longboard Titles announced as pathway to WSL event"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE state\u2019s best longboard surfers will have the chance to gain a wildcard into the WSL World Longboard Tour event at Bells Beach through the 2023 Victorian Longboard Titles.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday this week, Surfing Victoria announced a two-stop series starting at Phillip Island on March 4-5 and then concluding at Point Impossible on the Surf Coast on April 29-30.<\/p>\n<p>Top performers from the 2023 Victorian Longboard Titles will then be given a chance to do battle in the Bells Beach Longboard Classic Australian Trials to compete for the two local wildcard entry spots into the main event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an incredible opportunity for Victorian longboarders and strengthens our pathway from clubs to state rounds, and ultimately the World Longboard Tour,\u201d Surfing Victoria chief executive officer Adam Robertson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVictoria has a rich history of longboarding which includes many nationally successful longboard surfers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic that there is now another world class surfing event here in Victoria, showcasing the best longboarders on the planet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Past state series champions include Ben Considine (Barwon Heads), Bea Conroy (Point Lonsdale), Molly Powell (Anglesea), Emma Webb (Jan Juc) and Adam Lynch (Geelong).<\/p>\n<p>Bells Beach Longboard Classic Australian Trials spots will be allocated based results in the Open Longboard divisions at the state rounds.<\/p>\n<p>Top performers from the state round series will also earn the chance to represent the Victorian State Surfing Team at the Australian Surf Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Entries are now open for both events online at <a href=\"http:\/\/surfingvic.com\"><strong>surfingvic.com<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE state\u2019s best longboard surfers will have the chance to gain a wildcard into the WSL World Longboard Tour event at Bells Beach through the 2023 Victorian Longboard Titles.
