{"id":61498,"date":"2022-11-04T04:47:16","date_gmt":"2022-11-03T17:47:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=61498"},"modified":"2022-11-03T09:50:51","modified_gmt":"2022-11-02T22:50:51","slug":"queenscliff-celebrates-hub-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/queenscliff-celebrates-hub-opening\/","title":{"rendered":"Queenscliff celebrates Hub opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FEDERAL, state and local government representatives have formally opened the $5.75 million Queenscliffe Hub for the local community.<\/p>\n<p>The Hesse Street hub, also known as Wirrng Wirrng, welcomed the Queenscliff Library, Historical Museum and Visitor Information Centre as its new tenants in September before members of the Borough of Queenscliffe, the Victorian and Federal government cut the ribbon on Friday last week.<\/p>\n<p>The Queenscliffe Hub features modern facilities for each of the three organisations plus collaborative space, an auditorium, outdoor meeting areas and landscaping.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_61499\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-61499\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-61499 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/Hubopening-Auditoriu_49446-640x320.jpg?_t=1667429370\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-61499\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lisa Neville speaks in the centre&#8217;s auditorium. Photos: MICHAEL CHAMBERS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All three levels of government contributed funding for the project, while staff and volunteers of its user groups contributed to planning.<\/p>\n<p>Borough of Queesncliffe mayor Ross Ebbels said the new community centre would be an asset to residents and visitors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From helping tourists learn about our fascinating history, to giving residents a spectacular new space to access their favourite library services, the Queenscliffe Hub has something for everyone,&#8221; Cr Ebbels said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thank you to everyone in the Borough who helped us create this outstanding new community space. I can&#8217;t wait to see how you collaborate and enjoy using the new Hub.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Corangamite federal member Libby Coker said that &#8220;collaboration was at the heart of the hub&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61502\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/11\/Hubopening-Historica_49456.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a supporter of the project from early on in its planning, I fully understand its social and economic significance.
