{"id":62581,"date":"2022-12-09T04:00:03","date_gmt":"2022-12-08T17:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=62581"},"modified":"2022-12-08T09:11:23","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T22:11:23","slug":"carols-in-the-park-to-return-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/carols-in-the-park-to-return-this-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Carols in the Park to return this weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OCEAN Grove&#8217;s biggest community event is back this Sunday, December 11, with Carols in the Park to resume its usual Christmastime spot in the Grove Pavilion.<\/p>\n<p>Attractions on the night will include be the Geelong Youth Orchestra and the Geelong Harmony Choir.<\/p>\n<p>Pupils from local primary schools &#8211; Ocean Grove, Surfside and Our Lady Star of the Sea will be performing on stage.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62583\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62583\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62583\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/12\/CarolsinthePark_11162.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62583\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pupils from local primary schools will be performing on stage.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The event will not only feature all the carols you love by leading local artists but also a special performance by internationally acclaimed Sweethearts that will surprise and delight.<\/p>\n<p>Popular radio personality Mike Hyland will be the master of ceremonies.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the support of the Ocean Grove Connected Communities, safe LED candles will again be available for $2 each at the entry gates on the night.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62591\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62591\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62591 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/12\/mnbv-640x320.jpg?_t=1670385986\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62591\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The carols will again feature choirs and leading local artists.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More than 3,000 people attended the carols in 2021 and another big crowd is expected in this year&#8217;s edition of the event.<\/p>\n<p>Entry is by donation, and this year and gate proceeds will go to Feed Me Bellarine \u2013 an inspired Ocean Grove led group who feed people in need.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees are also invited to bring an unwrapped gift to put under a giant Christmas tree on the night, which will be distributed by Cottage by the Sea to local needy children.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_62582\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-62582\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-62582\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2022\/12\/CarolsinthePark_15430.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-62582\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 3,000 people attended the carols in 2021.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ocean Grove Carols in the Park will be be held at Ocean Grove Park, corner President Avenue and Draper Street.<\/p>\n<p>Organisers said the event was, at the request of many families, officially starting at 7pm, with gates opening at 5pm to allow time to grab a snag from the sausage sizzle or a pancake, which were a huge hit at the 2021 carols.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, head to the event&#8217;s Facebook page at <a href=\"http:\/\/facebook.com\/oceangrovecarols\">facebook.com\/oceangrovecarols<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OCEAN Grove&#8217;s biggest community event is back this Sunday, December 11, with Carols in the Park to resume its usual Christmastime spot in the Grove Pavilion.
