Underwood.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve had some fantastic feedback and people couldn&#8217;t believe the entertainment put on and the variety of stalls.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve never seen a crowd at 10:30am like we had, they definitely all filled in early.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We also definitely moved a couple tonne of mussels on the day which was great as well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_63941\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-63941\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-63941 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/01\/0G2A0180-Rie-and-Fiona-smash-out-some-great-mussel-recipies-1-640x320.jpg?_t=1673933367\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-63941\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rie and Fiona ran a cooking demonstration for the audience.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_63928\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-63928\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-63928\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/01\/0G2A0193GlynandKerry_66995.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-63928\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Glyn and Kerry Ramsay with Niki Rowell (centre).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>While attendees waltzed around the site with ice cream, lollies or seafood in hand, they were also treated to a wide range of the entertainment which was cast over five separate stages.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Bjorn Again, the Australian ABBA show was a highlight, the crowd loved them and a special mention also goes to Rie who brought plenty of people through for her great cooking demonstration,&#8221; Underwood said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For our volunteers and those on the stalls it was pretty tough with the heat, but they all did their duty.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Queenscliff Coastguard also did an outstanding job, they volunteered on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday with set-up and pack-down.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was probably the smoothest running one a Mussel Festival that we&#8217;ve had yet.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It couldn&#8217;t happen without all of them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Underwood said that the event committee would face some change in 2024, with several elderly members stepping down to hopefully make way for a younger brigade.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Portarlington Mussel Festival has gone down as a major success, with more 10,000 people turning out to enjoy mussel mania on Saturday afternoon (January 14).
