fans get their motors running at show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE latest instalment of the Torquay Rotary Motor Show revved up on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The annual event drew more than 400 cars and motorcycles and a big crowd of spectators to Elephant Walk.<\/p>\n<p>Ros and Barry Smith\u2019s 1932 Confederate Roadster was judged not only the best pre-1939 car at the event, but also the overall winner.<\/p>\n<p>Other winners in the 26 classes included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Best Ford \u2013 Dorothy and Ronnie Cremona\u2019s 1967 Mustang Fastback<\/li>\n<li>Best Holden \u2013 John Lawry\u2019s 2017 Commodore VF II<\/li>\n<li>Best Volkswagen \u2013 Gillian Gilbert\u2019s 1958 Type 1 Beetle<\/li>\n<li>Best Alternative Fuel Car \u2013 Robert Doig\u2019s 1986 Suzuki Mighty Boy<\/li>\n<li>Best Unrestored\/Original \u2013 David Clarke\u2019s 1929 Ford A<\/li>\n<li>Best Surf Vehicle (with surfboard) \u2013 Mark Reilly\u2019s 1954 Ford Customline<\/li>\n<li>Best Tradie\u2019s Ute (with tools) \u2013 Jardan Sewell\u2019s 2004 Mazda Bravo<\/li>\n<li>Best Motorcycle (pre-1975) \u2013 Phil Evans\u2019 1961 Moto Guzzi Stormelle Sport 125CC<\/li>\n<li>Best Motorcycle (post-1975) \u2013 Brett Beecham\u2019s 1986 Suzuki RG500<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Organisers said the early amount raised from vehicle entries and spectators was close to $20,000, with takings including the barbecue, raffle ticket sales, vendors and sponsorship still to be included.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from the event will be used for local, national and international Rotary Health projects.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1'
