THE 10th E.J. Whitten Charity Golf Day is expected to attract about 120 corporate golfers, sportsmen and women to Portarlington Golf Club tomorrow (Friday).<\/p>\n

The event, which has raised $75,000 since its inception, offers a fun-filled day of golf and men\u2019s health awareness.<\/p>\n

Founder and executive director of the E.J. Whitten Foundation, Ted Whitten, said every year the event proved to be a fantastic day.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs well as supporting a great cause, participants will enjoy breakfast prepared by the local Lion\u2019s club from 7am, 18 holes of golf at a spectacular course, and a hot buffet lunch and awards presentation following the golf.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn everything the Foundation does we aim to build awareness of men\u2019s health matters and inspire men to take charge of their health.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would be great to get a record result in 2018 in terms of awareness and raising funds\u201d<\/p>\n

E.J. Whitten Foundation chief executive officer Nick Holland said funds from this year\u2019s event would contribute to the Foundation\u2019s programs for research and treatment of prostate cancer, a disease which kills 66 men a week in Australia.<\/p>\n

Special guests include AFL great and prostate cancer survivor David Parkin, who will play and be keynote speaker, along with Western Bulldog champion Brad Johnson.<\/p>\n

The major sponsor The Drain Man has a solid presence in the Bellarine partnering in the Portarlington Mussel Festival in January, The E.J. Whitten Charity Golf Day at Portarlington and the AFL Barwon Rivalry Round and Dinner in July.<\/p>\n
