{"id":66684,"date":"2023-04-02T04:00:46","date_gmt":"2023-04-01T18:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=66684"},"modified":"2023-03-30T09:30:38","modified_gmt":"2023-03-29T22:30:38","slug":"rotary-club-supports-community-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/rotary-club-supports-community-groups\/","title":{"rendered":"Rotary club supports community groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Rotary Club of Ocean Grove has provided two generous donations to community groups to assist the organisation&#8217;s to continue supporting the community.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Ocean Grove volunteer group revealed a $10,000 donation to Feed Me Bellarine, Surf Coast and Geelong to assist the organisation to continue its work providing food to people in need.<\/p>\n<p>Rotary Club of Ocean Grove president Peter Cowburn said he was thrilled to present Feed Me Bellarine chair Lana Purcell with the cheque that will be used to purchase defibrillators and fix flooring.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Club is proud to support Feed Me Bellarine and recognises the excellent assistance that the charity provides to the local community,&#8221; Mr Cowburn said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There operation continues to grow and grow\u2026 between the three locations they are doing just under 8,000 meals a week which is just unbelievable.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a wonderful partnership with them\u2026 these funds will help to support these last two lots of work.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_66694\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-66694\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-66694 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/03\/Photo-2-640x320.jpg?_t=1680043515\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-66694\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Janet Alexander (Rotary Art Show Committee) with Helen Buckley and Wendy Raeburn from Riding for the Disabled Barwon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Rotary Club of Ocean Grove were also thrilled to hand over generous donations to Riding for the Disabled Barwon and the Disabled Surfing Association Ocean Grove, thanks to the funds generated at their Rotary Art Show.<\/p>\n<p>With the funds, Riding for the Disabled endeavour to use the donation to provide more riding opportunities for their clients, while the Disabled Surfing Association hope to expand their events.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_66697\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-66697\" style=\"width: 431px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-66697 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/03\/Photo-4-e1680043597843-431x320.jpg?_t=1680043600\" alt=\"\" width=\"431\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-66697\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jeremy Swift from the Disabled Surfers Australia Ocean Grove with their rotary donation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Additional benefactors of the Art Show included the Lazarus Centre; the Bellarine Community Support Register and Safe Water for Every Child Myanmar.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_66698\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-66698\" style=\"width: 407px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-66698 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/03\/Photo-5-e1680043693890-407x320.jpg?_t=1680043697\" alt=\"\" width=\"407\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-66698\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jade Hamilton from the Lazarus Community Centre Geelong was all smiles with their special donation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are helped greatly by our community through our summer market\u2026 we run our own BBQ and also do a gold coin collection,&#8221; Mr Cowburn said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s getting back from the community and giving back to the community groups\u2026 it helps everybody.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For more, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rotaryoceangrove.org.au\/\">www.rotaryoceangrove.org.au\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Rotary Club of Ocean Grove has provided two generous donations to community groups to assist the organisation&#8217;s to continue supporting the community.
