he just has that knack of being able to relate to the kids in and out of the garden, particularly with the persona of the garden gnome,&#8221; Mr McDonald said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some really good questions were asked of him and he was just able to get down to the children&#8217;s level\u2026 they were really engaged with him telling them about how living out of the garden is achievable.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s spurred them on to be involved with what we are doing and it was well worth the visit from Costa.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67644\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67644\" style=\"width: 480px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-67644 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/2H3A3325-scaled-e1681263214315-480x320.jpg?_t=1681263218\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67644\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">St Leonards Primary School students Poppy Pickersgill, Brianna Thomas, Jasmin Speedie and Josh Kirk with Environmental, Health and Wellbeing leader Benjamin McDonald.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_67645\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-67645\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-67645 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/04\/2H3A3429-640x320.jpg?_t=1681263007\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-67645\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The garden extraordinaire spoke to the students about regenerating in their own backyard.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With the support of the Farm My School offering, which is established at the Bellarine High School, the program fosters children&#8217;s ability and knowledge of growing produce and connecting with the environment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The program aims to give the students a mindset of sustainability\u2026 some kids were surprised where eggs were from and the origins of exotics like cumquats, mandarins and raspberries,&#8221; Mr McDonald said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s about exposing the students to where the produce comes from and making it achievable for them to do it at school and at home with their family\u2026. we see it as an important part of their future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr McDonald said the end goal is to ultimately reduce their landfill at the school and to nurture the earth so that it can produce fruit and vegetables long into the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ST Leonards Primary School has had the pleasure of welcoming gardening extraordinaire Costa Georgiadis to their school to help celebrate the progress of their Regenerate Our School program.
