Leigh Bowery was born March 1961 in the Melbourne working-class suburb of Sunshine. Moving to London in 1980, Bowery set about transforming himself through fashion and performance art. As a club promoter, he co-founded the legendary Taboo nightclub, using the venue as an outlet for his visionary performances. Leigh Bowery\u2019s work is still referenced to this day in fashion and performance art, nearly 25 years after his death.
