Each totem was created under local award-winning artist Kaz McGlynn’s guidance and mentorship, who runs art’sKool in Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n
“As someone with lived experience of a disability, I feel great pride and privilege to have mentored this group of talented artists at art’sKool at Kazworks,” Ms McGlynn said.<\/p>\n
“Their sculptures showcase the unique experiences and perspectives of individuals who often face barriers in society.<\/p>\n
“They also offer a glimpse into what’s possible when we embrace our differences and celebrate our unique abilities.”<\/p>\n
Ms McGlynn added, “publicly showcasing the totems challenges stereotypes and promotes inclusivity of people living with disabilities”.<\/p>\n
“Acceptance and diversity highlights that everyone can and is encouraged to contribute in our communities.”<\/p>\n
Ms McGlynn said since the project began many participants have continued improving their artistic skills, some of which have gone on to sell their artworks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
