The sun is meant to be shining all weekend, so let&#8217;s get the party started.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 566px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/NCF2022SuzanneBal_74072.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"566\" height=\"378\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">More than 17,000 people are expected to attend the festival each year. Photo: SUZANNE BALDING<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This year&#8217;s proceedings will be the first year, since the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival will run with no restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees at the festival, running from June 9-12, woll see an abundance of activities inspired by Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish, Manx, Breton, Galician and Asturian cultures.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some highlights include bush dances, heavy games, Celtic martial arts, ceilis, live theatre, pipe bands, workshops and, new in 2023, hurling,&#8221; Ms McAlinden said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the biggest Celtic festival in Australia, we pride ourselves on bringing in new, fresh performers and activities for festival goers to enjoy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The South Pacific Heavy Game Championships are also taking part at the festival, featuring the heavy stone throw, the weight over the bar and the caber toss; a crowd favourite.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 267px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/2022Festival_Photob_68359.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"267\" height=\"401\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Among the litany of events taking place at the National Celtic Folk Festival, the South Pacific Heavy Game Championships are also taking part.
