A DRYSDALE secondary school formally welcomed the opening of a its new Year 9 centre with their federal MP.<\/p>\n
Corangamite MP Libby Coker visited Saint Ignatius College Geelong last Tuesday to open the project delivered through $2.1 million from the federal government Capital Grants Program.<\/p>\n
The facility had been in use for several years at the Drysdale school but its official opening was put off due to delays including the pandemic.<\/p>\n
St Ignatius\u2019 Year 9 cohort, school and student leaders joined in a blessing of the facility to mark its opening last week.<\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of work has gone into this project which has delivered the construction of general-purpose learning areas and associated works,\u201d Ms Coker said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese new facilities will provide school staff, teachers, and students at Saint Ignatius College Geelong with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach and learn.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Australian Government is committed to providing schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those in Saint Ignatius College Geelong, Drysdale, get the best possible education.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe teachers, staff and students at Saint Ignatius College Geelong have built a strong and positive school community and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOur Albanese Government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or to find a job.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the school also announced earlier this month that its next major infrastructure project \u2013 its Mackillop Senior Centre \u2013 is progressing through construction and due to open in time for term one 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
