{"id":7114,"date":"2018-02-28T07:36:05","date_gmt":"2018-02-28T07:36:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=7114"},"modified":"2018-03-08T11:07:10","modified_gmt":"2018-03-08T11:07:10","slug":"bennett-holds-soul-session-bells-launches-book","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/bennett-holds-soul-session-bells-launches-book\/","title":{"rendered":"Bennett holds soul session at Bells, launches book"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RICHY Bennett has made another dawn visit to Bells Beach, greeting the day with a soul gathering.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the launch of his book 100 Dawns, the local performance psychologist held a celebration of the deeper values of the iconic surf break on Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>About 30 participants took part in a traditional smoking ceremony on the beach performed by Yorta Yorta man Anthony Hume and listened to poetry read by Mr Bennett and local author Mark Smith, and were guided through meditation by Mr Bennett.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy intention for creating this space and gathering on the beach is sharing gratitude for the incredible space we have here, the incredible resonance here \u2013 we all love the waves, but there\u2019s so much more going on here,\u201d Mr Bennett told the group.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you spend the time down here that I know a lot of us do, a lot of the values that we\u2019re going to share this morning are going to come out in the gathering because they\u2019re already within us, those beautiful values of human nature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He believed creativity was the language of the soul, which inspired having the readings as a way to express soul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone has their own passion, their own gifts, and that\u2019s what we\u2019re really tapping into \u2013 when you spend some time around a place like Bells, it\u2019s very conducive to opening your soul to creativity and connecting with who you are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Friday night, Mr Bennett held another event at Quiksilver Bar 61 in Torquay to help launch 100 Dawns.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-7114 gallery-columns-1 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon landscape'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/03\/Richy-Bennett-and-Mark-Smith-at-Quiksilver-Bar-61.jpg' title=\"\" data-rl_title=\"\" class=\"rl-gallery-link\" data-rl_caption=\"\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2018\/03\/Richy-Bennett-and-Mark-Smith-at-Quiksilver-Bar-61-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-7116\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<figcaption class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-7116'>\n\t\t\t\tRichy Bennett and Mark Smith at Quiksilver Bar 61 on Friday evening.
