{"id":71289,"date":"2023-06-27T04:00:37","date_gmt":"2023-06-26T18:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=71289"},"modified":"2023-06-22T09:45:36","modified_gmt":"2023-06-21T23:45:36","slug":"restoration-coffee-reaping-benefits-of-new-space","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/restoration-coffee-reaping-benefits-of-new-space\/","title":{"rendered":"Restoration Coffee reaping benefits of new space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A PHILANTHROPIC formally van-based coffee business is continuing its community-focused work from a new premises in Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>Bellarine local and Restoration Coffee owner Sharon De Been and her family sold the coffee van and have relocated Restoration Coffee to 164 Bellarine Street, Geelong.<\/p>\n<p>Restoration Coffee, previously operating from Drysdale&#8217;s Mowers Galore carpark and Portarlington&#8217;s Secondhand Op Shop, donates a portion of its profits to charities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71290\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71290\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-71290 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/IMG_4638_91096-640x320.jpg?_t=1687312023\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71290\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Restoration Coffee is now based on Bellarine Street in Geelong.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-five cents from each cup of coffee sold goes towards MAF Australia, a non-for-profit group that conducts crisis flights to support women and children in the Northern Australia&#8217;s Arnhem Land affected by domestic violence.<\/p>\n<p>MAF Australia additionally deliver medical care, emergency food and spiritual care to people in remote communities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71295\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71295\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-71295 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/dsfdffds_65608-640x320.jpg?_t=1687312023\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71295\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mrs De Been has been running Restoration Coffee for just over two years.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Restoration Coffee also provides regular free coffees and monetary donations to the local Drysdale Family Support&#8217;s Foodbank, the Geelong Mums group and Barwon Health nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs De Been said the new location was helping spread the word of Restoration Coffee&#8217;s work.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We wanted to get a permanent base and a coffee window to have a bigger impact on the community,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve already been able to meet so many new people who have learnt more about domestic violence and supporting people in need.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Going to a caf\u00e9 often is like a family for some people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We feel by having somewhere they can come and sit and chat that it can help to develop that sense of belonging and community.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been really empowering and exciting and we can&#8217;t wait to see where it goes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_71293\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-71293\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-71293 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/06\/IMG_4636_21093-640x320.jpg?_t=1687312023\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-71293\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The new space includes plenty of seating areas for locals to connect with each other.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Restoration Coffee in Geelong is open 7:30am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A PHILANTHROPIC formally van-based coffee business is continuing its community-focused work from a new premises in Geelong.
